This week I tried to shoot in the mornings before going to work, and worked in a few other twists. The cats were taken with a 50 mm lens wide open at f1.4, and the silos were on automatic for Digital Photography School's Assignment: Auto-Mode.
It was tough giving control back to the camera, and tougher still not being able to post-process. In addition to the usual exposure tweaks, I realized that the viewfinder doesn't quite cover the whole frame, which explains why I'm often cropping to clean up the edges.
