After diving off Ambergris Caye, we hopped a very small plane to Corozal on the mainland. At about 200 feet off the ground, it was quite a view!
A taxi and local bus took us to Orange Walk, where the owners at Hotel de la Fuente took great care of us, and even drove us to the dock on the New River for the boat ride to Lamanai.
Lamanai is the largest Mayan site in Belize, and a small part of it has been excavated and restored in the jungle. In addition to touring various sites on the ground, there was a steep but rewarding climb to the top of the tallest temple, which offered a panoramic view of the surrounding jungle.
