The original impetus for traveling to Belize was it's diving, which didn't disappoint. Staying on Ambergris Caye put us minutes from a long barrier reef for plenty of easy diving. The coral was healthy and the fish and larger animals plentiful. There are also some deep natural cuts in the reef that create dramatic canyons to swim through.
This was the first underwater photography I've done. I bought the housing for my old point and shoot, and used it's underwater mode, which avoids firing the flash to minimize backscatter from particles in the water. In that respect, it's effective, but the lack of natural light at 60+ feet means a good bit of color correction is needed from the originals.
