Mike, Luda, and her son Andre joined me for a weekend skiing Whiteface in Lake Placid. One the way up, we stopped to see some of the Olympic history in Lake Placid, including the Herb Brooks arena that witnessed the 1980 "Miracle on Ice". Saturday was a perfect day for skiing: clear and cold with good snow and challenging runs including the double-black Cloudsplitter Glades. We had such a good time skiing and enjoying apres ski drinks that we got the additional adventure of trying to get our bags out of the locked lodge!
Off the mountain, there was plenty of good food and amusing antics to be found. Souvenirs were harder, being a bunch of picky shoppers, but we didn't leave empty handed. A long drive home Sunday brought us back to eight inches of snow to dig out at midnight before calling it a very full weekend.
